Bishop David Oyedepo Retires, Son Replaces Him?

An online report that the founder and presiding bishop of the Living Faith church, Dr David Oyedepo, is set to retire from active service, and to be replaced by his son has been refuted by the church.

The media report has it that Living Faith, aka Winners Chapel, was about to witness a change in leadership as the first son of the Bishop, David Oyedepo Jnr, is set to take over the leadership of the church from his father Bishop Oyedepo who has been at the helms of affair of the church since inception come Sunday, January 10.

But in a text reply to Punch’s inquiry from by the Church’s Mandate Secretary, Pastor Yemi Nathaniel, the position is lifetime and Bishop Oyedepo is not bound to retire.

“Every apostolic ministry like ours is a priestly commission and because priesthood is for a lifetime, his (Oyedepo) presidency and priesthood is for a lifetime. Moses, Joshua, Aaron ministered and his son also did; Elijah, Elisha and Paul, among others. Therefore any online publication purporting his retirement is false.”

“For those interested, the Red Book, The Mandate, explains our succession plan. The good news of generational success as promised by God for the righteous must be causing pains for the ignorant, the envious and the wicked. Refuse to be a part of propagating evil.”

Oyedepo Jnr, who is the resident pastor of the London Branch of the Winners Chapel, was said would be at the leadership forum of the Church holding on Saturday at Canaanland Ota where he would be officially presented to the leaders of the Church as the new resident pastor in charge of the Faith Tabernacle, Ota.

The report further said that as the resident pastor of Faith Tabernacle, Ota, Oyedepo Jnr is expected to oversee the activities of the church worldwide and forward such to his father, Bishop David Oyedepo.
