0scars 2016: Protesters lined up outside award show

A multitude of protesters have lined up outside the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood, Los Angeles, the venue of the 2016 Oscars to show their dissatisfaction over the complexion of the award in respect to the nominees which had an all-white appearance.

The crowd came out in masses, armed with signs and boom box, shouting their reservation over what can can be termed as 'segregation in the movie industry'.
The protest was led by American civil rights activist and Baptist Minister, Al Sharpton, who took a sharp condemnation of the situation at the award show.

Sharpton compared himself to Chris Rock saying the difference between himself and Rock is that he tells the truth, while the latter tells good jokes.

He famously comments, “We’re not saying who must win. But if you’re locked out of the process, you’re dealing with a systemic problem of exclusion,”
Tonight, we come to give to you your eviction notice for exclusionary action.”

He however cleared the air about the essence of the protest, mentioning that it isn't about Rock, but about the segregation that has began in the movie industry.

He held up a white Oscar Award saying it would be the appropriate statuette for the evening.
